the LIFT projectThe Education Development Service is actively promoting the "LIFT" project, (Launch into Further Training) to schools, colleges and employers.

The "LIFT" project allows a young person to pursue a vocation of their choice from one day a week and runs throughout the entire academic year.

The qualification on offer to students is the City & Guilds Level 2 Progression Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (3681). This qualification is recognised by QCA and is listed under Section 96. The qualification is the equivalent to 46 points.

It's Purpose

An increasing percentage of young people drift outside education, employment or training between the ages of 14 and 19.

The Education Development Service has addressed the Government’s White Paper by studying the 14-19 curriculum and providing schools and colleges with a range of opportunities through the "LIFT" project, (Launch into Further Training).

lift projectMany schools and colleges are keen to address this need and are aware too of the ever impending Diploma’s which are to commence in 2008.

The Education Development Service is actively promoting the "LIFT" project, which enables young people to pursue a vocational area that is of particular interest to them. These structured vocational education placements are available from one day a week and run throughout the entire academic year.

This is an effective vocational route on offer to schools and colleges that will better equip young people with the knowledge and skills they need for further learning and future employment. The "LIFT" project also re-engages the disaffected. The Education Development Service is keen to reduce the number of young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

lift projectThe benefits of the "LIFT" project to the young person prove to be invaluable. It provides young people with opportunities to develop their talents and offers a different style of learning. The "LIFT" project will help put many more young people onto a pathway that will lead to further opportunities and qualifications. The "LIFT" project is fashioned around the needs of the learner and is responsive to the needs of employers.
